Year 10 students enjoyed a trip to The Guru Nanak Darbar Gurdwara, a Sikh Gurdwara situated in the town of Gravesend, Kent. It is the largest Gurdwara in Europe and also one of the largest outside India. The complex has 3 prayer rooms and 2 langar halls. The second visit of the afternoon was to St George’s Church, also in Gravesend. The present church opened in 1733 and attracts many visitors, mainly because of the connection with Princess Pocahontas (take a look at https://stgeorgesgravesend.org/history/pocahontas/) who was buried here. The trips were attended as part of the students’ chosen Religious studies subject for GCSE.
