GCSE Results Day 2022 – 25th August 2022

A small group of students are seen smiling for the camera, whilst holding their results envelopes on GCSE Results Day 2022.

It is our pleasure to share information about the GCSE summer’s grades for students at Ebbsfleet Academy.

After examinations were cancelled this year we provided examination boards with teacher assessed grades which indicated the likely outcome if students were to have been able to sit the full suite of papers. These were subject to a robust internal moderation process and were based on individual performance in mock examinations, assessments, day to day performance and also professional judgement and experience.

Figures indicate some excellent achievements across a range of subjects with a continuing improving trend in our results here at Ebbsfleet Academy.  We can celebrate marked improvements in our students securing strong passes (grade 5+) in English and maths from 31% in 2019 to 43% in 2022.  This is a huge achievement considering all the challenges our students have faced.

Ebbsfleet Academy is driven to ensure that all students go on to the further education or career pathways of their choice and at the time of going to press all students, completing their GCSE studies at the Academy this summer have achieved the grades they need to take up their EA6, Grammar, College, Sixth Form or employment offers.

This year’s Year 11 cohort has been a particularly resilient group.  The teaching and pastoral teams have really enjoyed working with them and, despite the unprecedented challenge faced this year, there have again been some exceptional individual performances across the range of subjects which include:

  • Harvey and Huzaifa, who between them, secured an impressive 19 grade 8-9 passes alongside grades 7 & 9 for Further Maths.
  • Yasmin secured an amazing ten passes with grades 9-7 to secure her EA6 place and Ege an hugely impressive ten grades of 9-7 grades across his subjects.  Tarun also secured a staggering ten GCSEs between grades 9-7.  Tarun said “It was the support and encouragement of the teachers which ensured that I never got complacent with my learning”.
  • Andzhelina secured a grade 8 in Further Maths, and at GCSE, one grade 9, one grade 8, six grade 7s as she prepares her next steps at our EA6.  Her best friend, Ilana secured an amazing eight passes with grades 9-5 alongside a grade 7 in Further Maths, and is very excited to be joining our EA6 provision to study A Levels in art & design, sociology and finance.
  • Kiranjoht achieved a fantastic set of results with nine grades ranging between 9-6, and including grade 9s & 8s in languages, science, design & technology and maths.  Calum impressed with a fantastic set of results including grade 8s for Combined Science.  Both have secured their places with the EA6 provision.

“Our young people have experienced a significant amount of change and disruption over the past two years and these outcomes are yet again a demonstration of the firm belief embedded in the Academy that there is no ceiling to what our young people can achieve. They represent the hard work, determination and fortitude demonstrated by our students on a daily basis.

For every one of our students, whether they are taking up a place in our EA6 Sixth Form provision, moving on to Grammar School or College, starting an apprenticeship or pursuing a different pathway, we are pleased that these results represent an exceptional start and will ensure their success for the future. Congratulations to all our students and on behalf of the whole Ebbsfleet Academy family, we wish you the very best for the future, and I look forward to welcoming so many students back in September to begin their Post 16 studies with us “Our young people have experienced a significant amount of change and disruption over the past two years and these outcomes are yet again a demonstration of the firm belief embedded in the Academy that there is no ceiling to what our young people can achieve.
